CPD Spotlight: Reflecting on a year of growth and shaping the future

Over the past academic year, the Haybridge Teaching School Hub has welcomed our teaching colleagues from Sandwell and Dudley to engage in a diverse range of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions. With a remarkable turnout of over 90 schools and more than 150 participants, our CPD offerings have been well-received and highly attended.

Our collaboration with the Albright Education Centre for our SEND program, catering to Social, Emotional, Mental Health, and Medical students, was a resounding success. The program featured a mix of virtual and in-person sessions, including the popular Autistic Girls online event that attracted nearly 40 participants. Moreover, the Experience Day at the centre was a sold-out triumph, drawing teachers from various backgrounds and organisations eager to explore how the centre supports students and families. Attendees praised the session for its informative content and valuable insights shared.

As part of our CPD program, Haybridge TSH collaborated with the Billesley Research School to deliver an impactful presentation on Making a Difference to Disadvantaged Pupils. This enlightening event spanned three days at the Haybridge TSH Conference Centre, situated within King Charles I school in Kidderminster. Attendees gained valuable insights on optimising the utilisation of Pupil Premium funding to make a meaningful difference in students' lives.

However, the standout highlights in the CPD line-up at Haybridge TSH this year were undoubtedly the inspirational events hosted by Wayne Harris, the visionary CEO of Inclusive Attendance. Wayne delivered two inspiring conferences unveiling his ground-breaking professional development approach, empowering schools with the knowledge and tools to foster a community where every individual takes ownership of school attendance, ultimately enhancing the well-being of the students.

Wayne was warmly welcomed by Haybridge TSH for the first time in November 2023, where he engaged with a sell-out audience of over 50 delegates. Due to the overwhelming demand, Haybridge TSH swiftly arranged for Wayne to return for a second session in February 2024. Once again, the event was a phenomenal success, with tickets selling out within days and participants raving about the empowering and inspiring nature of the conferences.

As we near the end of a successful academic year in our CPD program, Haybridge TSH is thrilled to announce the return of our esteemed facilitators for the upcoming year. We have exciting plans to further expand our offerings, with the dynamic Wayne Harris from Inclusive Attendance set to join us once again in the Autumn term. Additionally, we look forward to collaborating with the renowned Billesley Research School and an even wider range of events focused on SEND, thanks to the wonderful team at the Albright Education Centre.
